Careers- Placements

Placements

A work placement offers you an enormous range of benefits – both during your degree and beyond. You can choose whether to do a 9 month placement in your third year, or a 6 week mini placement during a summer holiday in your first or second year. Both will be on your degree transcript and offer many of the following benefits:

  • Earn a competitive salary whilst you learn
  • Considerably enhance your CV
  • Gain a wealth of knowledge, experience and transferable skills to set you on the right path for a successful career
  • A successful placement can also lead to a job offer with your placement company upon graduation. You will also have many opportunities to develop excellent professional contacts that will stand you in good stead for the future.
Henley Careers will provide you with expert advice and guidance – from helping you to choose the right placement, internship or graduate job, through to supporting you while working during your third year on placement.

To support you while applying we provide workshops covering all of the main selection methods used by employers, competency interview training and CV/cover letter/application form advice and drop in clinics. We encourage students to apply to a wide range of industry sectors and we offer tailored advice according to students’ needs.

Whilst on placement, you will receive a dedicated placement tutor, who will be in regular contact with you, and will visit you at your office, to support you whilst you are working. You will be able to discuss your progress, set objectives, and evaluate your performance with your manager and your -placement tutor, in order to get the most out of your placement.
