About this Masters programme
Duration: 12 months (full-time) Starts: October Fees and funding: View for 2013-14
Distinctive in its international approach, this Masters programme in international management places an emphasis on a systems view of the firm. You will examine the complexities of international management, the impact of cultural, local and global norms on business, and the influence of stakeholders in the 21st century international business environment.
You will develop a deep understanding of the critical importance of human agents (executive, stakeholder, employee, customer and citizen) and assess the balance between people and process driven elements in an organisation. You will also focus on the relationship between the human agent and functional aspects (strategy, financial management, marketing, entrepreneurship).
Core modules provide a critical understanding of contemporary strategic management, corporate responsibility, the management of people and organisational behaviour. In addition you will assess the ethical complexities involved in managing global organisations, and the factors involved in responsible decision making (both in business and in society).
You will be encouraged to critically evaluate existing theories, models and practices and use your knowledge and abilities to assess real-life situations and challenges. A distinctive emphasis is placed on grappling with how ethical perspectives and short-term, narrower economic objectives in decision making regarding the firm's performance and its stakeholder management practices interact.
