Professor George Tovstiga
Professor of Strategy & Innovation Management
Lead Tutor for the Henley MBA “Strategy” and Strategy & International Business” core modules; Director of the Henley Executive Strategy Programme.
George has been a full-time member of faculty at Henley since 2005. He has extensive international experience as a management educator, author and consultant with over 15 years of experience as a management practitioner, notably in the areas of R&D and strategic innovation management with Bayer AG (Germany) and ABB (Switzerland) AG. He consulted for Arthur D. Little (Switzerland’s) Strategic Growth and Innovation practice based in Zurich before joining Henley as a full-time member of faculty in 2005. His teaching and research at universities around the world focus on the development of pragmatic and practice-focused approaches to strategy and innovation management, primarily in the technology sectors.
In addition to his current academic activities George continues to provide strategy and innovation consultancy to a number of multinationals; clients have included ABB, Alstom, British Council (Palestinian Territories), Philips, Deutsche Telekom, IBM Research, Hewlett-Packard, Bosch-Siemens, Munich Re, Zurich Financial, British Nuclear Group (Sellafield), and Roche. George is on the Advisory Board of the Technopark Zurich (Switzerland), one of Europe’s leading high-technology science – innovation parks. His most recent book entitled ‘Strategy in Practice, 2nd Edition’ was published by John Wiley & Sons in 2013.
George holds degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Universities of Ottawa (Canada) and Massachusetts (Amherst/USA), and a doctorate in Engineering Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich, Switzerland).
