A webinar for Henley Business School alumni
On 25 September Jon Foster-Pedley, Dean, Henley Africa, presented an alumni webinar on ‘Africa – An Emerging Opportunity’.
Although Africa has historically been associated with an entrenched view of bribery, corruption and the “WWF” (Wildlife, War and Famine), Jon Foster-Pedley made the case that this is an out-dated snapshot and that Africa will become one of the world’s next dominant economic powerhouses.
Over the last 10 years, six of the world’s 10 fastest growing economies have been in Africa. Five African countries have been growing faster than China, 21 growing faster than India and all, except two countries, growing faster than both Europe and the United States.
Jon shared his insights about future growth opportunities of the continent and inspired a lively discussion about the real and perceived barriers to entering these emerging economies. He also discussed strategies for success.
