Edith Morley Lecture: In Conversation with... Karen Blackett OBE, CEO of Media Com UK

The Henley Women in Leadership Forum would like to draw your attention to this year’s Edith Morley Lecture at the University of Reading.

In 2014, Karen Blackett became the first woman to top the PowerList 100 of most influential black Britons, and was awarded an OBE for services to the media communications industry. She continues to be an inspirational figure today.

This special event is in memory of Edith Morley, believed to be the first woman to be awarded the title professor in a British university. Appointed as Professor of English Language at Reading in 1908,Professor Morley was dedicated to her subject, her students and her cause. She believed that women should have an equal place in academia and society, and was an inspiring and motivating force for the young people around her. Over 100 years on, we are pleased to celebrate this extraordinary part of our heritage with this special event to inspire young women today to achieve great things.

This year’s lecture celebrates the launch of the first publication of Edith’s memoir, which will be on sale at the event.
