ESRC Sponsored Research Seminar

ESRC Sponsored Research Seminar examining the Business Model Concept

Venue - Henley Business School Greenlands, Henley-on-Thames

Date - Tuesday, 22 July 2014

Overview of Event

Business models tell a story about the business, focusing attention on essential facets of a business. Business and management researchers are increasingly drawn to business models and practicing managers frequently refer to their business models. Yet, research indicates that over 66% of firms have given no thought to their business model and are unable to articulate their business model. The broad aim of the ESRC seminar is to bring together the leading academics and practitioners to improve our nascent understanding of the subject, synthesize the current research, identify future research paths, and create a better understanding between researchers and practitioners.

The specific focus of the research seminar being held at Henley Business School on 22 of July is on the interplay between business models and resource configuration. The aim is to address issues such as the impact of competing business models on resource configuration; implication of disruptive business models for resource configuration; innovative business models and resource configuration; business models and resources configuration across business networks; business models drift and its potential resource ramification; resource configuration and their influence on business models development; and resource implication of business models in emerging markets.
