Gravitas – The Art and Science of Grace under Fire

Description

What you say and do are the foundations of good leadership; your tone, energy and presence are key in inspiring others. When travelling on a plane we assess the voice of the pilot - calm, confident and controlled reflecting an ability to respond, in mind and body, to any turbulence you may face together.Embodied leadership is tested in moments of turbulence. Your teams measure your leadership by your grace under fire – your ability to maintain control of mind, breath and body, so you can communicate effectively and maintain the trust of others.

You’ll be given a toolkit for centring yourself, so that you can embody leadership in a way that is authentic to you. You’ll learn how to deal with turbulence in meetings and stay centred around difficult people. You’ll learn tools to take this mindful, embodied practice forward.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of the event you will have:

  • Learned core skills for gravitas and embodied leadership – the tools for staying grounded and present as a leader, even under stress
  • Explored your personal trigger points – where you feel stressed, and what shows up in your physical response when you do
  • Developed a ‘neutral gear’ to help you find calm and remain centred under fire
  • Found gears for your leadership to flex both your strength and your warmth, as required
  • Developed a personal toolkit to continue building your gravitas as a leader via mind, breath, voice and body.

Event Content and Delivery Style

The session will be highly practical and interactive. You will explore core models that underpin the exercises and learn practical, behavioural tools for mind, breath and body that you can take straight back to work and apply. As such there will be time to try things out individually and in pairs, and to ask questions at the end of each section so that you can refine your skills.

Caroline’s delivery style is interactive, down-to-earth and conversational, with a focus on trying new skills and strategies. You will receive hand-outs on the core ideas, and time to get them ‘in the muscle’.

At the end of the event, there will be a group question and answer session.

Who Should Attend?

This event is directed at those at senior manager level, who are looking to increase their impact or demonstrate greater gravitas. You may have stepped up, into a new more senior role which requires more influence, or want to develop how you react under pressure. High-potentials are also welcome.
