The Henley Partnership – The New Normal: the Challenges and Opportunities of New Global Trends

At this workshop Dr Elena Beleska-Spasova, from the John H Dunning Centre for International Business at Henley, will provide an overview of the major trends and developments in the global economy, offer insights into ‘what’s coming next’, and examine the challenges as well as the opportunities created by the new normal.

Recent economic uncertainty has shown us that there has been a fundamental shift in the global economic order, implying that a ‘new normal’ is at work. What is this ‘new normal’ and how should businesses respond to it? The new normal has been partially driven by the financial crises but many trends have been developing long before the recent downturn began. Reviewing cases of corporate success and failure, and using simple frameworks, participants will then develop their understanding of how to interpret the external information, and how to respond and react.
