Leading and Communicating Change

Leading and Communicating Change

With Darren Briggs

This event takes a headline view of how to lead change, and then a very deliberate focus on the essential skills of change communication. Communication is critical, but still something that most leaders and companies would recognise is the weak link in change.

Recent research highlights that only one in five leaders is trusted by the general public to talk openly about challenging or difficult issues. The same sentiment can be carried over into the workplace where employees want their leaders to be more trustworthy and transparent especially during change. In 2013, the Economist Intelligence Unit reported that on average just 56% of strategic initiatives were successful. Those that succeeded said that leadership buy-in and building a culture of trust were the key drivers of success. Using an appropriate mix of theory, research and case studies, this masterclass will focus on the relationship between inspirational communication and the successful implementation of organisational change. Content areas include:

  • Latest thinking on creating employee buy-in to change
  • Putting yourself in your employees shoes
  • The ‘Tipping Point’ principle of change
  • Using stories to build an engaging message
  • Powerful conversations to build trust
