Developing ambidexterity: What does it take to engage both sides of the organisational brain?

Organisations often struggle to be both innovative and efficient at the same time. Being creative and exploring new ideas is not just a right brain activity, but it does need very different capabilities than efficiency, which is about exploiting what’s already known, doing familiar things right and avoiding wasted effort. Organisations need to do both, and at the same time. There is evidence that they can develop such ambidexterity ; even better when do, overall performance increases. How do they achieve it when the conditions, behaviours and focus of attention required for one, are pretty much the opposite of those required to do the other? Jane McKenzie will unpack the issues surrounding this dilemma and explore what leaders can do to create an environment where people feel confident to exploit existing know-how and explore innovative new fields at the same time. The journey starts with leadership and carefully crafted approaches to people management.

Following the event lunch will be provided in our riverside restaurant.
