'Reflection - The 'Unfinished Business' of Management Practice' with Dr Chris Dalton

Even when we have time to reflect, do we understand this active and deliberate process that's crucial to unlocking our potential? Join this free-thinking Henley tutor to bring reflection and different thinking into your management and decisions.

Reflection is an under-appreciated yet crucial concept in the practice and development of management and leadership. Most managers see reflection as either a targeted remembering of past experiences or a logical step in a rational problem-solving process.

Many managers suspect that reflection might be more than this, but find that demanding work lives leave little time or space for further exploration. Yet reflection may be much more, and much more important, than that. The aim of this full-day event is to present a fresh point of view, one that deliberately uses holistic and systemic assumptions about the world.

Two propositions inform the day, namely that reflective thinking is: (1) central to business, personal growth and education and (2) explained by certain rules of information and communication. Drawing on the research and experience of the Henley MBA programme, and using an experiential and thought-provoking approach, you will understand reflective practice, be able to differentiate between the three purposes of reflection, and engage in a dialogic reflection process and apply a reflective mindset to your own management practice.
