Congratulations to three Real Estate & Planning students who have won internships with the Sociable Surveyors 2012 Global Internship Scheme. Applicants had to submit a two-minute video demonstrating their passion for the industry. James Webster, who has just graduated from REP with a first class degree, obviously impressed the judges and is off to Savills in Tokyo. Two other REP students, Ben Barclay (MSc Real Estate) and Simon Beck (1st year undergraduate), were also prizewinners and both won internships in London with Hammerson. You can view all the prizewinning videos here: Sociable Surveyors videos.

UPDATE: James is now back from his time in Tokyo and has this to say:

"Tokyo has been a truly phenomenal experience. What better place to work than in one of the largest office markets in the world!? During my two weeks in Japan I was working with Savills in their Research and Consulting Department where I was involved with writing the quarterly market reports and the weekly press digest. I was also able to attend client meetings and site visits to get a feel for how the company operates and how business in general is conducted in Japan. Some of the highlights included a tour of the office market in Tokyo and a trip to Osaka on the bullet train.

Working in Japan has provided me with a unique opportunity to expand my professional network through meeting some of the leaders of the industry whilst also enhancing my employability as a graduate."
