Around 300 alumni from the University of Reading and Henley Business School joined Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell and Professor John Board, Dean of Henley Business School, for a very special drinks reception in the House of Lords hosted by Lord Carrington, the University’s Chancellor Emeritus.

Held in the beautiful Cholmondeley Room, guests enjoyed the opportunity to network at the reception overlooking the Thames. Many guests were also able to go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the House of Lords, leaning about the building’s 166-year history.

The Reception, held by the University of Reading since 2005, has always been extremely popular. This year was the first time Henley alumni had the opportunity to attend and they jumped at the chance, making up almost half of the guests.

Ginny Gibson, Deputy Dean of the Business School said ‘The House of Lords Reception was a wonderful evening, and it was clear that everybody who attended had a fantastic time. Henley alumni came from far and wide to attend the event – with some people flying in from as far afield as Switzerland and Finland. It was fantastic that the evening gave so many of our alumni the opportunity to get together in such a beautiful setting’.
