Henley Germany Summer School
15 May 2014
In the Henley Germany 2014 Summer School at Tegernsee South of Munich, we invite you to start exploring your colour in a dynamic, active way that lets you experience our non-judgemental community approach.
One generation ago, life was simple. Politics happened in blocks led by the United States or the Soviet Union. Business focused on the developed economies in North America and Europe. Your career was basically guaranteed as long as you followed the rules in this black-and-white system of right and wrong.
Today, things have changed. The Soviet Union and other, authoritarian systems have collapsed, leaving the United States as the only ‘global policeman’. Business moved East and South with economies like the BRICS countries showing the best growth potential. Your traditional career definition has gone, being replaced by a global wealth of opportunity without any guarantees.
Does this mean that we have replaced black-and-white with shades of grey between right and wrong? We at Henley Business School Germany rather see it as a universe of colours where each colour represents a combination of many parameters that create our perception and determine our thinking and behaviour.
As hard facts like knowledge and information have become commodities accessible around the globe, the soft side of your colour like your personality, identity, beliefs and experience determines your success. You have to understand how your colour is made up and how you can move from colour to colour as situations change, opportunities arise and challenges must be countered.
Done in isolation, this can be a challenging process. That’s why we at Henley Business School offer you a community uniting current research from faculty, practical experience from business and many other aspects that contribute to discussion and reflection in a non-judgemental and non-prescriptive environment.
In the Henley Germany 2014 Summer School at Tegernsee South of Munich, we invite you to start exploring your colour in a dynamic, active way that lets you experience our non-judgemental community approach. We have selected three topics that are all important in today’s business world:
- Leading and being led – understanding relationships in business
- Agile thinking –re-calling ‘motor boat’ thinking in a ‘super tanker’ environment
- Dilemmas abound – working with the BRICS.
