We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Rajneesh Narula as the inaugural John H. Dunning Professor of International Business.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Rajneesh Narula as the inaugural John H. Dunning Professor of International Business.

Professor Dunning was an instrumental figure in establishing what is now the Henley Business School, having been associated with HBS from 1964 until his demise in 2009. He was Emeritus Professor of International Business at the University and was the first head of the Economics Department upon its establishment in 1964. He was the founder and leading light of the 'Reading School' of thought in the economics of international business and international investment, and was a consultant to the United Nations, the World Bank and numerous other governmental organisations. The Henley Business School at the University of Reading, with its John H. Dunning Centre for International Business, is still the world's pre-eminent centre for international business research.

Professor Narula held a long association with Professor John Dunning; first as his PhD student at Rutgers University, and later as his research collaborator, colleague and friend. Rajneesh joined the University of Reading Business School in 2004 as Professor of International Business Regulation. He has been the Director of the John H. Dunning Centre for International Business since its inception, in addition to running the MSc programmes in International Business and International Business and Finance.

Mrs Christine Dunning has warmly welcomed Professor Narula’s appointment by saying “It is fitting that Rajneesh is the first person to occupy the chair named in memory of my late husband. I cannot think of anyone better to further John’s legacy”.

Professor John Board also welcomed the appointment. “International Business has taken a central stage in the Henley Business School, having been developed into an independent entity in 2011/12. The reassertion of the place of International Business at the Henley Business School, University of Reading and an on-going commitment, builds on the 40 year legacy of Prof. John H. Dunning.”
