David C Lane, Professor of Business Informatics, Henley Business School gave a plenary talk at this eve at a ‘Shaping Choices in Public Policy’ meeting which dealt with the application of problem structuring methods to problems of public policy.  He and Professor Eileen Munro, London School of Economics, spoke on the subject ‘How systems thinking was used to undertake a review of child protection in England’. The talk was based on a paper by: David Lane, Eileen Munro & Elke Husemann.

The event was chaired by Peter Watkins, Director General Security Policy and Head of Policy Profession, Ministry of Defence (MOD). It was sponsored by: the UK government’s Policy Profession; the Centre for Science and Policy, University of Cambridge; and the Operational Research Society. It was held in June at the Royal Society, London.
