Professor Kathy Pain short-listed for RTPI Education Award

Kathy Pain, Real Estate & Planning’s Professor of Real Estate Development and Director of Research, has been for the shortlisted for the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Education Award 2014: Excellence in Spatial Planning Research.

We are pleased to announce that Kathy Pain, Real Estate & Planning’s Professor of Real Estate Development and Director of Research, has been for the shortlisted for the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Education Award 2014: Excellence in Spatial Planning Research. The award is open to academics employed by RTPI Accredited Planning Schools, as a team or individually, who produced excellent research on any area of spatial planning and Kathy is one of just two academics shortlisted.

Kathy has been recognised for a body of work researching the position of Europe’s cities in a global context within the TIGER - Territorial Impact of Globalization for Europe and its Regions – study.  This European Spatial Planning Observation Network (ESPON) collaboration between six EU countries, investigates the major changes that people, places and state authorities across Europe are being swept up in as globalization proceeds. Kathy led the UK research for this project.
