Real Estate & Planning host Planners' Question Time
25 February 2014
Real Estate & Planning host Planners' Question Time event in the Royal Town Planning Institute's Centenary year.
The School of Real Estate and Planning hosted the Annual Planners' Question Time event in collaboration with RTPI South East. This year is the RTPI's centenary year, and so it felt appropriate to be discussing a topic that has long been the subject of debate and discussion amongst practising planners and academics alike – the role of spatial planning. Three panelists, Vincent Goodstadt (Independent consultant and Honorary Professor at the University of Manchester), Richard Blyth (Head of Policy and Practice, RTPI) and our own expert in spatial planning, Prof Kathy Pain (Professor of Real Estate Development, University of Reading) debated the issues, chaired another REP academic, Prof Gavin Parker (currently also Director of Professional Standards at RTPI). The event was well-attended by local RTPI members, planning researchers and students alike, and covered a range of pressing topics including how to deliver economic growth in a context of climatic uncertainty.
