Real Estate & Planning students reach the semi-finals of the Universities Business Challenge
15 December 2014
Congratulations to two first year Real Estate & Planning students who have reached the semi-finals of the UK Universities Business Challenge.
We are very pleased to announce that two first year Undergraduate students from REP have reached the semi-finals of the UK Universities Business Challenge. Kobi Grossman and Umi Nur Jasmine Nur Ibrahim Masilamani are each in a team comprising of students on programmes from across the Business School. The Universities Business Challenge is the UK's longest established and most recognised simulation-based competitive challenge for undergraduates and is designed to develop employability and enterprise skills.
Umi Nur Jasmine said "Taking part in the Universities Business Challenge was a great way to meet like-minded business enthusiasts, to engage and react to the volatile supply and demand market and most importantly understand real life situations that incorporate social responsibility in a risk free stimulation environment. There were no particular assigned roles in our team as it was unanimously agreed that everyone should have a say in the decisions made such as allocating price, purchasing plants, money invested in marketing etc. In conclusion, good collaboration and making smart decisions were the driving force behind our success".
Kobi said "I got involved with UBC as I wanted a challenge, wanted to work with a group of people who all wanted the same thing. TO WIN! I am extremely fortunate that my team get on so well and we all have put a lot of work in to get to the semi-finials. The UBC is I think great for bringing people together also letting us experience a challenge we don’t normal face as this young age. It is a great team activity".
We wish them and their teams all the best for the semi-finals which take place early in 2015.
