Henley’s 70 year status confirmed as a leading research and policy focused business school.

Henley Business School faculty were entered into two units of assessment in the national 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) that evaluates research and its impact every six years.

Business and Management

We are now ranked in the top 10% for internationally excellent and world-leading research. In addition, out of 101 institutions, we are ranked 10th for the reach and significance of our impact on business and policy, and 14th for the vitality and sustainability of the research environment. We are placed 16th in the UK for the overall quality of research.

Architecture, Built Environment and Planning

Our work is ranked 6th out of 45 schools in the UK for research power, a measure of quality and quantity. We are placed 3rd for the reach and significance of our impact on industry, policy and the professions. Our submission, which included the School of Construction Management and Engineering, achieved a rating that significantly outperforms the sector, with 83% of the work judged to be of internationally excellent and world-leading quality.

Professor John Board, Dean, Henley Business School, added: "It is gratifying that these results reflect the great strides taken by Henley over the last six years. These strong and improved positions truly represent Henley’s 70 year history of producing academically rigorous work that resonates fully with the industry leaders and policy makers that we serve."

Professor Ginny Gibson, Deputy Dean and Director of Research at Henley Business School commented: "These results are a confirmation of the enormous hard work put in to develop a cohesive and dynamic research environment. We have built on all our strengths, significantly improving the quality of our research publications, deepening our engagement with industry and creating a vibrant research community. This has only been possible with strong leadership of our disciplines and research centres and the enthusiasm and commitment of faculty. We have much to be proud of in these results."
