Henry Russell, Programme Director for Real Estate & Planning's MSc Conservation of the Historic Environment, gave evidence today to the House of Lords Select Committee on National Policy for the Built Environment.
Henry Russell (representing the Heritage Alliance), Ros Kerslake (Chief Executive of the Prince's Regeneration Trust) and Duncan Wilson (Chief Executive of Historic England) answered questions on Heritage and the National Planning Policy Framework.
The focus was on how well-designed new developments in a historic setting can be achieved, local community engagement through a variety of means - including neighbourhood plans - tax incentives to repair historic buildings, and how good heritage advice can be provided where local authorities have much fewer conservation officers and other resources.
