David C. Lane, Professor of Business Informatics at Henley Business School, is engaging with U.K. Government departments on their modelling work in Operational Research, particularly System Dynamics, including speaking at the 2015 Government OR Service conference.
David C. Lane, Professor of Business Informatics at Henley Business School, is continuing to engage with a range of U.K. Government departments concerning the practical application of modelling work in Operational Research, and particularly System Dynamics, for policy analysis. He has recently given invited talks at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, the Department for Education and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratories and has advised a number of departments on their modelling activities.
Earlier in 2015 Prof Lane was invited to attend the 2015 Government Operational Research Service conference. GORS brings together OR analysts in all Departments within the civil service and has almost 600 members. The theme of the conference was: ‘fORward! What GORS Can Offer the Next Government’. Prof Lane gave the opening talk and attended and contributed to sessions throughout the conference.
This applied work continues. In November Prof Lane is scheduled to visit the Operational Research & Evaluation Unit of NHS England in Leeds to discuss their modelling activities. In February 2016 he has been invited to speak to the Forecasting and Model Development Unit in the Ministry of Justice.
