Tessa Lynn at 2015 UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference
Real Estate & Planning PhD student, Tessa Lynn presented a paper recently at the 2015 UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference. The conference, which was held at the London South Bank University, was based around the theme "Future Planning, Future Cities".
Tessa presented her paper The intermediation of the social and political relations of property: an analysis of the Community Right to Bid. Tessa commented "In short, I introduced the theoretical foundations of my research on ownership and property rights but what was of major interest to the audience was the initial findings of the data I have collected so far. There has been little or no collection of data on the Community Right to Bid, so the information from the national database and very early findings from the questionnaires circulated to Local Authorities was well accepted."
She went on to say "I enjoyed the inspirational keynote speech by Mark Tewdwr-Jones of Newcastle University, who discussed the creative work being done on the Newcastle Urban Foresight project and how more could be done in terms of partnership working with Universities and other organisations including local councils."
There was also a lively debate on Neighbourhood Planning chaired by Real Estate & Planning's Director of Planning Studies, Professor Gavin Parker.
