REP welcomes new Head
We are very pleased to welcome Cathy Hughes as the new Head of School for Real Estate & Planning. Cathy said of her new role: "It is an exciting and challenging time to take over as Head of Real Estate & Planning. This year had a difficult start with the death of our previous Head, and much loved colleague, Professor Peter Byrne. Since then Professors Neil Crosby and Roger Gibbard have done an admirable job of steering the REP ship, for which I thank them on behalf of all of us.
As I step into the role, the School is in a very strong position. There is a huge amount of great research going on right across the School which addresses real-world problems, helps shape industry practices and influences Government policy. At the same time we have increasing demand for our courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and a vibrant PhD community. So, I am incredibly optimistic for the future and look forward to working with everyone to make us even stronger in all that we do. For me 'everyone' is a very extensive network of people and organisations, from REP colleagues, and the wider university through to the professions and industry; I am keen to strengthen all of those links. And, yes I am a little nervous!"
