Liena Kano is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Global Management at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary, Canada. Her research interests lie at the intersection of international business, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. She develops novel applications of comparative institutional analysis to study business phenomena such as the governance of family firms, emerging economy multinationals, multinational business networks, the global value chains, trading favours and global sustainability crises. Her particular focus is on microfoundations that underlie complex governance decisions. Her work has been published in California Management Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Business History Review, Journal of World Business and other high-quality academic outlets.
The Alan Rugman Visiting Fellowship was established in 2015. This is an annual award which honours the work of the late Professor Alan Rugman, and is therefore available to scholars whose work is explicitly linked to topics aligned with his academic interests. The award is in part available thanks to a donation from Helen Rugman in memory to her late husband.
