We would like to congratulate Steffen Heinig, a PhD student in Real Estate & Planning, who won the ERES Award for the Best Paper in the PhD Session.
His paper "Which Sentiment Indicators Matter? An Analysis of the European Commercial Real Estate Market" was presented at the 23rd Annual European Real Estate Society (ERES) Conference in Regensburg in Germany last week. The conference was attended by several members of staff from REP inculding Dr Cathy Hughes, Professor Pat McAllister, Dr Jorn van de Wetering and Eamonn D'Arcy.
Steffen’s research, which is supervised by Dr Anupam Nanda and Professor Sotiris Tsolacos, is focussed on the application of behavioural finance theory in real estate and investigates the relationship of market sentiment and commercial real estate performance. Innovative interdisciplinary modelling approach (applied econometrics and computational linguistics) and new forms of data (such as texts) have been employed to inform the research questions.
