REP students wins Henry Sale Bursary
Congratulations to 1st year REP undergraduate William Lewington who has been awarded the Henry Sale Bursary. The bursary is an annual award made by Fisher German LLP, a leading national firm of rural surveyors.
Maria Wade from Fisher German explained the background to the Bursary: "Prior to 2013 Fisher German was managed by a joint Managing Partnership arrangement of two individuals Andrew Jackson and Henry Sale. Sadly Henry Sale died unexpectedly early in 2013. One of the ways the company decided to honour his memory was to set up a bursary for students. Henry was a strong supporter of young people into the rural surveying industry and we thought this was a good way of reflecting his work. To win the Bursary, William had to answer two questions: "Why did he want a career in surveying" and "Why did he think he should receive the award"?
Marie went on to comment that the judging panel which, in addition to her, comprised Andrew Jackson, Clare Phillipson, Guy Hemus, were highly impressed with William’s passion and desire to become a chartered surveyor
William said "I feel honoured and extremely grateful to have received such a meaningful award. I would like to thank Fisher German LLP for their kind generosity. As well as the Bursary, I am incredibly excited to begin my six week placement with the company. The placement will be invaluable in expanding my knowledge of the sector and will really enhance the theory I learn at university".
