Congratulations to BSc Real Estate student Chris Pang who was chosen to speak at the official launch ceremony of the University of Reading Malaysia last week. Chris, who is pictured here with Dr Susan Rose, Head of Henley Business School, University of Reading Malaysia, said "I was both honoured and excited when the Provost selected me to be the student reader at University of Reading Malaysia’s launch ceremony".
He said "I was a little worried that I would mess up and shame myself and the University in front of many important guests during the launch ceremony, and I was determined to not let that happen. After I got my excerpt from the staff, I practiced my lines for three nights before the ceremony to familiarise myself with its contents so that I could rely as little as possible on my piece of paper during the ceremony. When I started my speech, my nervousness just disappeared. I was careful with my speed and tone in my speech at first, but as I continued, I became fully immersed in my speech that I momentarily forgotten where I was! After the ceremony, many of the guests congratulated me on how well I executed my speech at the podium. For me, I’m just glad that I performed up to expectations."
Chris is part of the first cohort of students studying on our BSc Real Estate at the University of Reading Malaysia. He says of the programme "I was very excited to enrol on this course because the University has a strong reputation for Real Estate in the UK. But what I think is really important is the learning experience. What’s the use in studying in a University if you don’t have friends and lecturers that respect and interact with one another? The great thing about my course is that my classmates are always fun to be with, and the lecturers here at this University are very friendly and often interact with us, even on non-academic topics!"
Thank you, Chris, for being such a great ambassador for Real Estate & Planning.
