ICISO 2018 Report
10 August 2018
2018 was a great year for Henley but especially for BISA. This year marked the 18th gathering of the International Conference on Informatics and Semiotics in Organisations (ICISO). This conference, run by the Informatics Research Centre, had over 35 papers published, making it a must-attend event for people interested in the area.
ICISO 2018 Summary
ICISO 2018 continued the innovative work of the international research community in the development of organisational semiotics, focusing not only on theory building, but also on practical benefits gained through applications of methods and techniques derived from various organisational semiotics approaches.
The conference theme, digitalisation, innovation and transformation, allows us to consider how these three concepts are driving changes globally.
In line with the theme, ICISO 2018 was honoured to have three keynotes from internationally renowned experts. The keynotes covered the coupling nature of the digital, the physical and the social worlds (Professor M. Cecilia C. Baranauskas); digital infrastructure innovation dynamics (Dr Carsten Sørensen); and the institution of organisational semiotics (Professor Ronald Stamper).
These keynotes enriched our view on current happenings within the context of digitalisation, innovation and transformation and how informatics and semiotics support in understanding and development of some of these new innovations. The next ICISO conference location is currently being decided, if you are interested, please check out the website linked below.
