Jo is a qualified solicitor who converted to law after reading for a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (French and German) at Cambridge University. She practised as a commercial property solicitor in London before moving into professional education, lecturing in legal practice at BPP University, London. Prior to joining Real Estate & Planning at Reading, she was a senior lecturer at Oxford Brookes.

Jo’s teaching interests include land law and commercial and residential landlord and tenant law. She is particularly interested in teaching and learning and the use of technology enhanced learning in higher education.
