Following a research career in soil science and plant physiology, Ruth has worked in government research administration and policy since 1998. Based in the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, and working across government departments, her work included commissioning and managing veterinary science research programmes, sustainable food policy and adaptation to climate change policy.
Utilising her skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, and understanding how research needs underpin policy requirements, she joined the Department for Real Estate & Planning in 2014. In addition to research portfolio management, Ruth is also responsible for the Department’s research ethics applications alongside championing open research and research data management.
