His research focus is on governance, director effectiveness, top teams and strategic change in corporate, third sector and government organisations. Past research included his PhD on how CEOs and Chairmen of large UK listed companies handle strategic tensions and realise strategic alignment and direction. He has interviewed hundreds of FTSE 100, 250 CEOs, Chairs, Independent Directors and CFOs.
Filipe is currently directing a large scale study into Director Independence across different institutional settings, including universities, charities, corporates and sports organisations. He has produced research for the ICSA (Institute of Company Secretaries and Administrators), Alvarez & Marsal (large turnaround specialist firm) on board governance topics such as conflict resolution, board leadership during crisis and turnarounds and the impact of Brexit.
Filipe’s research has appeared as book chapters, peer-reviewed papers and case studies and has been presented in various prestigious international conferences. In the past Filipe worked for over 10 years as an HR professional in increasingly senior roles, for the automotive, semiconductor and health industries.
