Filipe Morais, PhD., holds a doctorate in management from the Henley Business School, University of Reading (UK) specialising in corporate governance and strategic management topics.
Filipe has developed research for a variety of private, public and third sector organisations; currently he is directing a large-scale research programme into director independence and governance across a number of non-profit sectors (higher education, NHS, sports and charities). This programme is leading to the publication of a book, research papers and sectorial reports.
Filipe is also principal investigator of a research project with the Quoted Companies Alliance and Downing LLP examining governance in fast-growing firms listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM).
Filipe teaches corporate governance and strategic management topics in the Masters in Financial Regulation, the BA in Applied Management and occasionally on the Henley MBA. His research has been published in well-ranked journals such as Long Range Planning, Corporate Governance, and International Journal of Disclosure and Governance, among others. Filipe’s research also appears regularly as book chapters, case studies and industry reports.
In 2016 Filipe received The Case Centre Case Writing Scholarship Award for his case study about the Strategy Transformation of Thomas Cook, plc. In 2018 Filipe received the Outstanding Reviewer Award by the Academy of Management (AOM). He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and of the European Academy of Management (EURAM).
