Biography

Julia is a senior commercial and business manager with over 20 years experience in the retail, sport, fashion, luxury and higher education sectors based in the UK and USA. Her strengths are in strategy development, brand management, marketing, new product development, licensing and sales.

An Economics and Geography graduate, she started her career with retailer Marks & Spencer working in store management. She then moved in to management consultancy working for PA Consulting Group in their Strategy Division initially as a business analyst. PA fully sponsored Julia to study for a MBA (1991) full time at Henley Business School.

She subsequently moved to Reebok’s International HQ in London reporting to the President with responsibilities for strategic planning and market intelligence working closely with wholly owned subsidiaries and independent distributors.
A move to Reebok’s global HQ in Boston USA followed, to lead the worldwide growth-categories of watches, sunglasses and fitness equipment, securing world class licensees/partners, developing performance products and innovative marketing plus effectively operating in a matrix organisation with operating sales units worldwide.

Upon returning to the UK ten years later Julia joined Pentland Brands (Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury, Mitre, Ted Baker, Lacoste footwear and Red or Dead) initially as Director of Licensing working closely with Speedo, where she developed new businesses including waterproof MP3 players and wetsuits. She was then promoted to Managing Director of the British fashion brand Red or Dead and for six years managed and grew the fully licensed business operating in footwear, clothing and eyewear with both retail, wholesale and e-tail sales.

Julia re-connected with Henley Business School’s alumni joining the Marketing Special Interest Group and was invited to become a member of Henley’s Women in Leadership Committee, which helps to understand and contribute to debates and challenges of women in their careers.

Julia moved to luxury fashion brand Nicole Farhi based at its HQ above flagship store in Mayfair London. The business comprised of women’s and men’s wear plus a homeware offering, retail stores, concessions in Harvey Nichols and e commerce web site. As COO she managed the day to day running of the business, leading the senior team and working closely with the family owners.

Julia is currently Director of Sales and Marketing at Henley Business School one of the oldest and leading business schools in the world where she is leading marketing strategy and brand development.
