Biography

Learning and development is at the core of Maddy's role - in order to effectively deliver Careers Education to our students, we need to be able to understand how people learn, develop and become engaged. Maddy’s focus is on Learner Experience (LX) and developing innovative methods to capture students’ attention, leading to how we can as a team deliver Careers effectively.

Maddy is the creator of the incredibly popular Business Leaders programme, which is a series of masterclasses designed to make extra-curricular learning fun and impactful – including use of the Lego Serious Play method, gamification, design thinking and stand-up comedy. In addition, Maddy created the Henley Societies Partnership, bringing all the Henley-affiliated societies together and providing support, training and improving student engagement. She is also currently heading up a gamification project, creating a video game which will be used to simulate an assessment centre activity.

Maddy is a Henley Business School and University of Reading graduate – her dissertation focussed on technology-enhanced learning and its effects on the elderly. As a result, she has become specifically interested in the psychology of how people learn and develop themselves, and holds the CIPD Diploma in Learning and Development.

Maddy's career background is in Retail Management, having undertaken several management positions and running sales teams of up to 30 during busy periods. She then came to work for Henley Business School on the MBA Programme team supporting students throughout their journey, which led to her current role in Henley Careers.
