Professor Eng joined Henley Business School in August 2017. Prior to this, he was chair of marketing and head of the Department of Digital and Data-Driven Marketing at the University of Southampton, UK. He has extensive international experience in leading research centres, and managing teams from diverse cultural backgrounds. Professor Eng is director of CGBECA, an international research centre with scholars based in Asia and Europe. The Centre is funded by competitive research grants with research projects on big data analytics and FinTech, and digital marketing in the finance industry.
His methodological competencies and knowledge of data analytics techniques are well recognised in academia and industry, where he has been a marketing analytics and big data analytics trainer since 2012; consulted for Business Monitor International London on technology competencies and FDI for over 50 countries; and awarded a multi-million European Research Grants (ERC FP 7 framework) for a project on nanotechnologies. His research findings have been adopted by policy makers and/or practitioners.
Professor Eng is editor-in-chief for the Journal of General Management, Sage Publications London – a practitioner oriented journal. He is serving on numerous editorial boards of academic journals. His research has appeared in over 40 international peer-reviewed academic journals. He is a regular keynote speaker at conferences. His current research focuses on data-analytic strategy, Internet-of-Things (IoT), and big data analytics in the contexts of accounting and finance, and supply chains of one-belt-one-road initiative.
