PhD - How to apply

The online application service allows you to complete your application, attach electronic copies of your academic transcripts, certificates and other supporting documents. It also provides a facility for an email request to be sent to your referees enabling them to send your references directly to us. Please note that a research proposal is required to apply for the PhD programme. More information on this is available on the Graduate School website.

How long does it take for my application to be processed?

Please be aware that PhD and MRes applications can take around 4 weeks to process in order for research proposals to be properly assessed and considered. If you have any concerns or queries regarding your PhD or MRes application, please contact BISA directly (contact details can be found in the ‘Contact Us’ box on the right hand side of this page).

How is my application assessed?

All applications are assessed based on the following criteria: academic background, research proposal, and availability of supervisors at BISA. Please note that even if your academic background and research proposal are suitable, you may be rejected due to the lack of suitable supervisor or supervisory capacity.
