In an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world of work, it is more important than ever to take a proactive approach to career management.

We offer apprenticeship learners an extracurricular, online programme that focuses on career management and professional development. This optional activity complements the learner journey and encourages participants to apply what they learn in their studies to their own career development.

The programme offers various options for learners to join mixed-cohort sessions, providing an opportunity to learn from, share best practice with, and network with people from a wide range of organisations.

Sessions are facilitated by our team of qualified and experienced executive coaches, who draw on the latest research and thought leadership to inform and inspire proactive career management.

Smart Career Management

This five-part, extracurricular programme is designed so that learners can book sessions throughout their time at Henley. The five 2.5-hour sessions are designed to be followed in order; however, learners may choose whichever sessions they feel fit best with their current needs.

The programme runs twice a year so that learners have the opportunity to attend all sessions before the end of their studies.

The five sessions are:

  • Take Control of Your Career
  • Presenting with Impact
  • Leveraging Your Strengths for Success
  • Telling and Selling Your Personal Brand and What Now?
  • Progressing Your Career Beyond Your Studies

Monthly webinars

A wide range of professional development topics are on offer in these hour-long, lunchtime monthly webinars.

Themes for 2022 include:

  • Power Language for Career Longevity
  • Creating and Maintaining Solid Boundaries
  • Taking Control of the Fear Demons

Coaching and redundancy coaching

Learners can benefit from coaching in various ways.

Those who are at risk of redundancy can be offered as much support as they need from a coach to find a new role.

Other learners can have up to three sessions with an executive coach over the duration of their studies, if a learner identifies a need for coaching. All of the coaches within Henley Careers and Professional Development hold executive coaching qualifications and are well-versed in careers coaching and the latest labour market trends.

LinkedIn Learning

All apprenticeship learners have full access to the LinkedIn Learning suite of materials, which they can access using their University credentials.
