Proper strategic workforce planning (SWP) is a hugely under-leveraged opportunity for improving business performance and strategy execution. Yet in many organisations, the SWP brand is damaged. We will explore and experiment with a new model for SWP, featuring a radical shift in positioning that is proven to deliver greater value, more quickly and through lightweight and agile approaches.
Professor Nick Kemsley
Nick is an experienced HR and OD practitioner and recognised thought leader in organisational capability and HR effectiveness. He combines real-world corporate experience to group VP level with a senior consulting career, thought-provoking insights and research through his long association with Henley.
He offers considerable expertise and challenge on topics including HR strategy and operating models, talent and leadership, OD and organisational design, L&D, performance enablement, EVP, career pathing, succession planning and, in particular, organisational capability diagnosis and SWP, in which he is considered a global thought leader.
Working with other experts at Henley, our various other centres and our wider programme and administrative staff, Nick can ensure that you have access to Henley’s considerable resources in order to support the development of your function.
Vivienne Meredith
Vivienne Meredith became an independent management consultant after leaving Anglo American in March 2023, where she was a group head of HR. She has been a senior human resources leader within natural resources, pharmaceuticals and financial services. She specialises in building better companies and developing brilliant people. Vivienne’s experience spans executive HR business partnering and centre of excellence specialisms in talent, leadership development, early careers and strategic workforce planning (SWP). Her experience is grounded in unionised environments, solidified through a masters in industrial relations and employment law. She has also supplemented her practitioner experience with academic learning throughout her career, including business programmes at MIT, IMD and the University of North Carolina. She has been a non-executive director for a school multi-academy trust and is a founder member of the IMAGINE collaborative community comprising 70+ organisations. She co-leads the SWP and flexible employment communities of practice, having successfully implemented SWP and talent strategies in three FTSE 100 companies. Her overarching passion is for addressing ambitious goals and business challenges in the new realities we face.
