Abstract

In this paper we explore the interplay of digital ecosystems and trust, as moderated by AI as a control-trust mechanism. With changing market and environmental dynamics such as the COVID-19 pandemic, digital ecosystems need to safeguard their existent tendencies. We undertake an integrative literature review methodology (covering 90 papers, reports and book chapters), because existing literature has been interspersed across disciplines and has not been previously synthesized in a similar manner. We adopt four forms of synthesis from the review: firstly, identification of 17 future research agendas. Secondly, conceptual view of organisational transformation and classification of Digital Ecosystems as an Organisation (DEAAO). Thirdly, introduction of new Integrative framework for digital ecosystem – trust interplay, and Conceptual architecture of value co-creation in DEAAO. Finally, synthesis of literature review in the form of five propositions and several research questions as a pathway for conducting future empirical and theoretical research.
