Description
We ask a lot from leaders today. People expect you to be strong and independent, and to ‘lead from the front’ in rapidly changing environments, often under great pressure. Simultaneously, you are required to be available to others, to be supportive and inspiring. Good leadership is as much about how we show up, as it is about our skills and previous experience.
This workshop will focus on the 'being' of a leader, and help you to develop your leadership presence. We will look at how you can go beyond the 'technical skills' of leadership and identify how to build capacity and range, and develop the ability to respond rather than react, so that you can be more available to yourself and to others.
Learning Outcomes
This workshop will help you:
- understand your leadership style and its strengths and pitfalls
- identify new habits to support you in building your leadership range
- understand the importance of emotions as a leader
- identify practices to build your capacity to respond rather than react under pressure
Who is this for
Suitable for anyone with a leadership role (formal or informal), who wants to develop their leadership capabilities.
Ann James

With nearly 30 years in business and two decades dedicated to coaching, supervision, and coach development, I’ve worked with over 1,200 individuals and supported 500+ coaches, teams, and organisations in embedding coaching skills into their work. As an Executive Fellow and Lead Tutor at Henley Business School, I contribute to globally respected coaching programmes and have been part of Henley’s core coaching team for almost 20 years. My private practice spans corporate sectors, from charities to elite athletes at the Leander Club, and I host Sea Change® Residential Hideaways for deep personal and professional reflection. I regularly integrate AI into coaching where clients are curious to explore its potential. My work draws on a wide skillset, extensive qualifications, and a deep belief in reflective practice, development through nature, and the power of coaching to shift lives. Most of all, I love what I do.
