Description

This webinar explores the theory and application of behavioural change in organisations and in everyday working situations. We will work with a comprehensive theoretical framework for behavioural diagnosis and introduce a systematic methodology called MINDSPACE for designing interventions and activities inside teams and organisations. MINDSPACE was created from exploratory work undertaken for the British Government by Ivo Vlaev and his team, to use behavioural economics to inform policy and create new policy ideas. He will bring the ideas to life using exciting case studies and experiences from recent work.

This session introduces key principles to professionals who are unfamiliar with behavioural change. The aim is to improve participants’ understanding of how to apply behavioural science to their own work setting, from the initial exploration of the problem, to the design, development and testing of new ideas.

Learning outcomes

The session will deliver the following learning outcomes:

  • an understanding of behavioural economics and its relevance to leadership and management
  • knowledge of a behavioural change framework and how to apply it
  • basic design skills to support the exploration, development and testing of behavioural insights in your organisation
  • the ability to select a number of behavioural change projects within your organisation.

Who Should Attend?

Professionals who would like to understand how to apply behavioural science in their own work setting.

Professor Ivo Vlaev

Ivo Vlaev is a Professor of Behavioural Science, Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. Ivo received a DPhil (PhD) in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford (and St John’s College). He has a track record of research in decision science (behavioural economics) and behavioural change, which is published in peer-reviewed academic journals, book chapters and government reports. In behavioural change, Ivo’s research focuses on developing an integrated theory of behavioural change which combines principles from psychology, neuroscience and economics.

“Ivo’s MINDSPACE model is really simple but eloquent – once he’s taken you through it you can see just how to use it in your own work to find those ‘sweet spots’ where you can make real difference...and his examples are real-world, practical and sometimes hilarious!”
