Dr Angelique Chettiparamb assumes office of Secretary General of AESOP

AESOP is a learned association established in 1987 for scientific, artistic and educational purposes. With more than 150 planning schools across Europe as Full members and many more planning schools and Individuals as Associate, Corresponding, Affiliate, Individual and Honorary members, AESOP is the only representation of planning schools that operates across Europe. Member activities include events such as an annual Congress; an annual Heads of Planning School meeting; the AESOP PhD workshop; the AESOP Lecture series as well as smaller scale events organised by around 18 Thematic Groups. AESOP also promotes quality in teaching and research through the Quality recognition of planning programmes; and various awards such as the Best Published Paper award in planning, the Best Congress Paper Award and Excellence in Teaching Award. It also fronts an open access journal ‘Transactions of the Association of European Schools of Planning’and a Newsletter.

The Young Academic Association of AESOP is an active and engaged complementary Association with their own events including a YA conference and their own publications: a Booklet Series, PlaNext and Memzine.

The Secretary General of AESOP oversees the functioning of the Executive of the Association and together with the President represents the Association to all third parties.
