Ali Bowen is a Tax Specialist with over fifteen years' tax advisory experience working for 'Big Four' firms in London and extensive experience teaching tax.

Ali achieved 1st class honours in Economics and Statistics at Exeter University. She then qualified as a Charted Tax Advisor (CTA) as a graduate with a Big Four firm.

While working in practice, Ali had a variety of roles. She was client facing for 9 years, advising a wide range of clients including: entrepreneurs, internationally mobile private clients, high net worth families, trusts and executives in private equity transactions. She provided complete and comprehensive tax advice for all her clients’ personal and business needs.

Latterly, Ali provided internal technical tax expertise, supporting a national tax practice. She drafted technical material, briefing papers and communications, on new tax policy or technical developments. She also reviewed draft legislation and drafted responses to HMRC or HM Treasury on technical effectiveness, as well as to HMRC’s consultation documents. She particularly enjoyed writing and delivering technical training to all grades.

Ali has a particular interest in UK personal, inheritance, trust and estate taxation. For 6 years she was part of the CIOT Capital Gains Tax & Investment Income Sub-committee & Succession Taxes Sub-committee.

In 2018 Ali decided to focus on teaching tax. She has taught ICAEW, ACCA, AAT, CTA and ATT tax courses for a number of professional education providers. She has extensive experience of delivering lectures, both virtually and in person. She joined Henley Business School in 2022.
