Mr Gerry Brown is Chairman of Novaquest Capital, a private equity house focussed on life sciences with over $3BN under management and of G Brown Associates Ltd a family company providing consultancy services.

He was an Independent Director of Quintiles the worlds largest Clinical Research Organisation from 1998 until 2010, firstly a Main Board Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee and subsequently Chairman of the EMEA Business. He was Chairman of Biocompatibles International plc a medical technology company focussed on drug device combination products for use in oncology and cardiology until a very successful exit.

Gerry was Chairman of NFT Ltd a MBO from Northern Foods funded by Phoenix Equity until the business was sold for a very good premium to an Asian investor. He was Senior Independent Director of Keller plc a leading global construction services company and of Forth Ports plc a ports and property company. He represented 3i on the Board of Vantec Corporation a MBO from Nissan in Japan until the extremely successful exit. Then he represented the purchaser the Japanese bank Mizuho until the flotation on the Japanese Stock Market. Gerry was Chairman of Upol Ltd a business funded by Graphite Private Equity and concerned with the manufacturing and distribution of products for the repair of damaged vehicles until a very successful exit. He was a Director of CH Jones a private company focussed on Fuel Management and Information Systems until the very successful trade sale to a U.S. trade buyer. He was also a Non Executive Director of Michael Gerson Ltd representing the Bank of Scotland and of Datrontech plc an international distributor of computer products

Prior to his career as a Chairman/ Independent Director he was for many years an international senior business executive working in supply chain management, covering a variety of market sectors. He served as Operations Director of Exel plc (now DHL), was a Board member of TDG plc and latterly was Chairman of Europe for Tibbett and Britten plc. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics. He is a member of the Council of Exeter University, Chair of the Audit Committee and also Chair of the Fundraising Board. He is an Associate of Critical Eye and is involved in mentoring Chief Executives. He is the author of 'The Independent Director ' recently published by Palgrave Macmillan .

He is a Visiting Fellow at Henley Business School and is working with Professor Kakabadse on a major study into the role of Independent Directors in Health, Education, Sport and Charities. He is a mentor for European Women on Boards. He is a member of the Advisory Board on Corporate Governance of the Institute of Directors.

Mr Brown is married with 5 children and was educated in England at Exeter and Reading Universities and the London Business School.
