Sue graduated from Kingston University with a degree in Business Studies and later went on to qualify as an accountant with the ACCA. Sue has commercial corporate reporting experience having worked predominantly in the utilities sector for Shell, edf and National Grid. She has practical experience in both single company and group reporting structures as well exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance work. Sue has an MBA with distinction from the University of Warwick, her strategic management accounting dissertation explored “The usefulness of the Balanced Score Card as a measure of performance in charitable organisations”.

Sue is a CELTA qualified TEFL teacher and former IELTS examiner with experience of living and teaching in Spain and Vietnam. Having taught English for three years, in 2010 she progressed from teaching academic English and started lecturing in accounting at RMIT University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Sue lectured in introductory accounting, financial accounting, corporate reporting and accounting information systems. Whilst in Vietnam, Sue also earned a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia and was the runner up for the Teacher of the Year Award in 2012. Having completed her MBA, Sue has worked in UK higher education as a senior lecturer since 2014. She now works as a lecturer at Henley Business School (part of the University of Reading). Sue is also a Fellow of Advance HE (formerly Higher Education Academy). Sue is currently an external examiner for two universities in the UK and abroad.
