Description
This webinar is for coaches who are interested in learning more about the psychodynamic model and how to apply it to their own work. It will deepen their understanding of why many clients are committed to improving their leadership effectiveness but often fail to achieve sustainable behavioural change. It will also provide new insights into the emotional dynamics of the first coach–client meeting (or ‘chemistry check’) and how to build a powerful rapport as quickly as possible.
In the session Catherine will provide a concise introduction to key psychodynamic concepts, specifically:
- the central role of emotions, conscious and unconscious, in driving our thoughts and behaviour
- the patterns we develop to defend ourselves against everyday anxiety and how we can help coaching clients to manage those patterns more skilfully
- the way in which the coach–coachee relationship can provide valuable clues to understanding the client’s inner world
Catherine will draw on her own case material (suitably disguised) to illustrate how she applies these ideas in practice.
Who Should Attend?
The event is designed for independent and internal coaches of all kinds, particularly those who are interested in deepening the impact of their practice and in taking a more proactive approach to helping clients overcome deep-rooted but unhelpful patterns of behaviour. It will also be highly relevant to those in the HR/L&D community who have an interest in coaching and/or whose role involves understanding, supporting and influencing leaders and teams within their organisations.
