Biography
An informatics professional with over 15 years experience in healthcare data management and analytics.
Winner of the 2015 - HSJ Value in Health Care Awards, I believe in the transformational power of data & information systems in improving patient safety and increasing efficiency. Over the years I have built a history and successful track record of informatics strategy development, implementation and innovation.
Lecture abstract
The lecture will consider the structure of the NHS and its key data flows as well as the opportunities informatics now offers in improving patient outcomes and population health management
The lecture will also look at the Royal Berkshires Hospital’s journey in becoming a digital hospital and the opportunities this journey now opens up in big data, actionable intelligence and advanced analytics.
Finally we will examine the key informatics functions in an acute hospital; clinical coding, data management, information analysis and data quality & assurance, we will then explore the challenges in these functions as well the exciting opportunities now available in this new digital age in health care.
This is a guest lecture for MSc Informatics students and others if of interest.
