Description
Trust is fundamental to successful relationships and to positive performance. In every interaction we have with others we are weighing up the extent to which we expect them to consistently behave in a way that does not harm us. If we expect this, then we can be said to trust that person and we are more willing to collaborate with them, be open and vulnerable. If we don’t believe that this is the case, then we may act to protect our own interests, with the likely outcome of reduced co-operation and damage to the relationship.
This session will examine what trust is and how we can foster trust, both in one-to-one relationships and in groups.
Trust also applies in groups and in teams, and the extent to which we trust that we can be ourselves in a group, without fear of punishment, can impact upon performance, creativity and innovation in the group/team. Trust is relevant to all relationships we have, both in the workplace and outside.
Learning Outcomes
This session will help you understand:
· what factors create trust in one-to-one relationships and groups and teams
· what the barriers to trust are
· how to recover trust when there has been a violation
Who is this for
For leaders and managers to help them develop trusting relationships with their followers and direct reports, as well as colleagues, building relationships within and across teams. Also for those working to build alliances with external stakeholders.
