The topic of this presentation is 'Rethinking Sustainability in Turbulent Times: Towards Regenerative Rationality and Virtues in Ethical Decision-Making'. The presentation will focus on the requirements for ethics in turbulent times, the new rationality needed by decision-makers and its corresponding virtues.

Exploring how decision-making in turbulent times needs to focus on green transitions towards sustainable futures, the presentation will examine how sustainability should be defined, with regenerative management philosophy contributing in this context with an important lens on sustainability. It will propose a regenerative perspective on the international work on sustainability, which has recently been formulated in connection with the United Nations' sustainable development goals (SDGs) for green transition, sustainability and the fight against poverty everywhere on Earth.

Today, the global goals have become a yardstick for political and economic success in municipalities and companies, but there is room for interpretation from the point of view of regenerative management philosophy. There are also questions about the global responsibility and ethics behind climate, environmental and human rights.

Outlining the need a new regenerative management philosophy that is based on ideas about how to recreate, renew or restore nature, the presentation will discuss such challenges to sustainability in the workplace and its natural environment. The aim is to create greater awareness of management and ethics considering the UN's SDGs.

The seminar will be held on 13 June 2024, 1:00pm, in room 208 of the Henley Business School building, Whiteknights campus.
