This year, we are celebrating Henley’s 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of academic excellence, industry collaboration and dedication to shaping the future of business and leadership.

With a belief that education should be a force for good, Henley continues to shape leaders who are ready to make a difference - driven by purpose, powered by innovation and inspired by the future.

A rich heritage

Founded on the banks of the River Thames in 1945, the business school emerged from Britain’s post-Second World War determination to rebuild. Known then as the Staff Administrative College, it brought together leaders and representatives from government, business and industry to develop their management skills and prepare them for their important roles rebuilding society after the war.

Recognising the ongoing need for professional and leadership development, Henley followed this by opening its doors to international delegates and has led the way in sharing its knowledge and expertise globally through distance learning and by setting up international campuses.

In the 1980s, Henley evolved into Henley Management College and in 2008, a powerful new chapter began - Henley Management College merged with the University of Reading, becoming Henley Business School.

Today with campuses in the UK, Nordics, South Africa and Malaysia, Henley is a triple accredited, global business school offering a comprehensive portfolio from undergraduate and postgraduate to PhD, MBA, DBA and executive education.

Elena B Spasova, Dean of Henley Business School, said: "Since 1945, Henley has remained committed to nurturing a global community of changemakers, fuelled by engaged and purpose-driven research.

“Our legacy is not only built on 80 years of academic excellence, but on the resilience and innovation of our faculty, staff, alumni and students. I would like to thank them all for their inspiring work.

“And as we celebrate this significant milestone, we also look ahead to a future where our shared commitment to innovation, responsible leadership and lifelong learning continues to drive meaningful change.”
